Selección Especial 1605 obtains the Silver Medal at the 9th edition of GourmetQuesos

Selección Especial 1605, the aged cheese made by Quesería 1605, which is located in the heart of La Mancha, in the town of Herencia, has been recognised as one of the best Spanish cheeses at the 9th edition of GourmetQuesos

Selección Especial 1605 obtained a Bronze Medal during the 9th edition of GourmetQuesos Madrid, where over 600 types of cheese from all over Spain participated in 15 different categories.

Selección Especial 1605 is made in Quesería 1605, which is located in the village of Herencia (Ciudad Real), and it is one of the most special and innovative cheeses that is currently being made in Castilla La Mancha.

Made from 100% Manchego raw sheep milk, it is a mature cheese whose ripening is monitored at all times until it cures for one year, obtaining a smooth, buttery cheese with a wide expression. Selección especial is a very risky venture by Quesería 1605, as only a few pieces are chosen by expert maturers to reach a minimum ripening of 10 months and thus be recognised as Selección Especial 1605.

This medal is, yet again, a confirmation of the increasing quality and stability that is almost impossible to reach by a high-end artisanal product. Thanks to the hard work and effort invested by Quesería 1605, this small cheese factory has become a reference in the industry worldwide.

This award is added to the collection of prizes that Quesería 1605 has won both nationally and internationally. The prestigious North American magazine “The New York Magazine” selected Queso Manchego 1605 amongst the 50 best cheeses that can be found in the North American market, also being the only Spanish cheese on the list. In addition, the North American gourmet chain Di Bruno Bros has placed 1605 within what they call Legendary Cheeses, taking it to the same level as the Parmigiano by Giorgio Cravero, Gouda by L´Amuse or Comté by Marcel Petite.
