Quesería 1605 gets one gold, two silver and one bronze medal at the World Cheese Awards 2018

Two of the innovations that Quesería 1605 will launch on the market this month have obtained an important recognition at the 2018 World Cheese Awards that have been held this weekend in Bergen, Norway. The jury composed of 230 experts from 29 countries has awarded a gold medal to La Casa de la Aldaba Lactic Fermentation Traditional Herbs and a silver medal to Haldudo Trufado. On the other hand, the Manchego cheeses from the 1605 Selección collection have been awarded again. Silver medal for 1605 Selection 4 months and a bronze medal for 1605 Selection 7 months.

These awards are especially important because this year the record in the number of participating cheeses has been broken with 3,471 cheeses from 41 countries.

The new cheeses that this month will launch the Quesería 1605 are the result of a desire for innovation and the search for new products endorsed by the quality that characterizes this small dairy located in the town of Herencia (Ciudad Real).

La Casa de La Aldaba Lactic Fermentation Traditional Herbs and Five Spices

La Casa de La Aldaba Lactic Fermentation Traditional herbs is a cheese made from a mixture of herbs called ‘Jarramarra’ that contains garlic, cumin, oregano, pepper and salt. This cheese, which will be marketed in a 250 gram format, will be accompanied by another cheese with the same characteristics, but made with five-spice powder composed of anise, cinnamon, pepper, fennel seeds and cloves. In both cases it is a usual way of production in other countries, but very innovative in Castilla La Mancha.

The other important novelty presented by Quesería 1605, which has also been recognized at the World Cheese Awards 2018, is a cheese made from raw milk from the sheep with which Quesería 1605 usually works, and black truffle from La Alcarria (Castilla La Mancha) that has been incorporated during its production to the cheese. It will be released in the format of 3 kilos, 1.5 kg and in wedges of 250 grs. “With the silver medal obtained at the World Cheese Awards 2018, this cheese comes to the market with an important support and reaffirms the quality that we were sure we had achieved, ” says Fernando Rodríguez Aldudo, Managing Director of Quesería 1605.
